Its a mixed expectations week.
Rain, wind, sunshine and 50's.
Obligations at church... today and tomorrow.
Feeling resentful of it...even if I had an OK time today.
Not much going in a positive direction right now.
Its Monday and I'm having a crummy week.
Need to find a way to turn everything around here.

Friday5
What are five things you would want to do with a million dollar deposit in your bank account?
1. pay off debt
2. invest
3. tithe (church and other charity)
4. new car and home improvements
5. open my own business/summer home
Boring, right?

I got friends in...
My stepfather is in the hospital for some tests and
its a hospital where a friend (and also classmate of Hubby's) is a chaplain.
I'm ten hours away, but she checked on my family today for me.
Kinda cool, right?

bare bones
Easter was lonely.
I expected at some point someone would invite us to Easter dinner,
knowing we have no family here. Wishful thinking I guess.
And more proof we are strangers here.
Christmas was like that too. We were invited to zero parties.
And here we are at Easter break...no friends here.
I've got Flash all week ( daycare is out for the break) and I don't know what we'll do.
Cold call someone for a playdate!?
We're supposed to see some old friends the end of the week, but its up in the air..
I can't find a job, and I need one.
Subbing is strangely great. I really like the variety...its what I love about the library.
But the unpredictable schedule and , well, if you think what they pay teachers is low...
I check the job sites everyday and I have applications everywhere.
Nothing. Nada. Zip.
Church is...serviceable.
Everyone is friendly but I don't feel a part of it.
There isn't anything for me or Flash.
(I know, I know, other than God...)
I am jealous of other churches and I can't leave mine.
And given my position I can't really start anything either.
My parents put their dog down. My stepfather is in the hospital for tests.
Easter week is joyful right?
I'm going to have to work up to it, I guess.
So if you wonder where I've been...I'm sifting through all this.

Where we are...
Today I sang with first graders
ate tacos with my family
watched dogs sleep
reconnected with an old friend, online
watched a movie
chatted with teachers
did laundry and dishes
bought gas
listened to a booktape
and now I am going to bed!

Taking my own advice...
I have, in the past been an advocate for a local Pastor's wives Support Group.
I believe I said, right here, that if you don't have one, make one.
OK...We don't have one here in this town, area, Presbytery.
Um, I guess that means I'm going to have to make one.
Here's my plan.
The pastor's in town have a weekly prayer group.
I am considering making up some invitations and inviting their wives (spouses) to a ...
to a what?
I'm thinking "drop-in social"
or tea or something.
But frankly I feel like this shouldn't be "my job".
I'm still thinking this one through, so let me know what you think.
Sometime in May I think.

Flash meets wordgirl
There's this show on PBS called Wordgirl.
Its very cool. And Flash thinks she's great
so when we heard she was "appearing" at The Nearby city Children's Museum...we went.
To explain the pose:
I asked Flash if he could do Wordgirl's flying pose .
Flash stayed still, Wordgirl posed.
Word Up!
Fantastic day at the museum!
And we got a membership so we'll be back!

Friday5: Spring is coming...
What have you seen/ heard this week that was a :
1. Sign of hope?
Signs of hope are everywhere.
I went to the bank on Wednesday afternoon
and the bank was closed but, there was a horse trailer in the parking lot
and two people on horseback riding around town near the grocery store.
And it wasn't some sort of demonstration...they were just taking a ride.
And we've met some neighbors.
And subbing went well this week. Fun even.
There are some great 3rd. graders out here.
2. An unexpected word of light in a dark place?
Hubby has been good at those this week.
I haven't been unemployed this long, ever
and the rejections sting.
3. A sign of spring?
There were a ton of birds around here today.
And Simba seems to have trapped something under the shed.
Spring may actually be coming!
4. Challenging/ surprising?
Flash has been calling all the relatives this week
and telling them his new jokes.
Knock Knocks mostly, and a few that he made up.
Very entertaining.
5. Share a hope for the coming week/month/year....
So many hopes...
but I'll share the frivolous
UNC wins the NCAA tournament.

Saturday5 for me - Leaping
It was Leap Day!!
I always think that leap day should be a holiday...I mean who says we should give that day to our workplace every 4 years...course I am unemployed so...
Tell us about a time you:
1. Leapt before looked
Hmmm. Ummmm.
Ok, welll there was...
No, but wait I...
um...
2. Leapt to a conclusion
That when Hubby said Let's go for a drive,
we end up going for ice cream.
I knew it.
3. Took a Leap of Faith
Well here we are in corn country, so I'll say this Fall!
4. Took a literal Leap
Right now. Really. With Flash.
5. And finally, what might you be faced with leaping in the coming year?
New job, I hope. Oh Please.
Maybe a new career?
Get used to the town, the lifestyle
This is less of a leap year and more of a transition year, for me.
I think.
You know, its hard to tell at this point isn't it?
