What am I doing?

I know people who will tell you everything about themselves within a week of knowing them. Some people's blogs are like that. Maybe mine is in some ways.
This has been on my mind so I guess I'll share.

Do you know people who will tell you all about everything? Loves, Loathes, relationships, politics? I won't include religion because...that sort of our business. I find myself wondering how they can be so free about their innermost thinking. I would say "private lives" but the connotation is wrong.
How many people know your politics, and not just party but, your views on all the hot buttons?
Darn few.
I wonder why I'm even talking about this. I'm wondering why I blog and whats appropriate to blog.
I know if I don't blog I'll lose touch with some friends and that the connections I've made, especially in the revgals, will go away and I think I'll miss that. I think that this forum of support may become even more meaningful for me in the coming future. Some of you might even want to follow the progress my family is making, how God is acting in our lives now at the end of seminary.
So, I'll continue but you'll have to understand that I get so much more out of reading others blogs right now than I do telling you about whats going on here.
Because theres nothing profound happening most days.
Just eat sleep work play and watch the laundry pile grow.

So tired...

Must be the hayfever/allergy meds. but I'm having a hard time getting anything done these past few weeks. By the time I get Flash down, I'm ready for bed myself. And a cup of coffee so I can get some housework/laundry done doesn't seem ultimately profitable. Early to bed, early to rise, I guess.

G'night.

Friday5 on a Saturday

From the Revgals!
Tell us about five people, places, or things that have brought surprising, healing joy into your life.

1. Hubby

2. Flash

3. My wonderful Stepdad - My folks divorced when I was 4.
When I was old enough to take a long hard look at my parents,
I saw that they were very different people.
They could only have been brought together for a special purpose
...and in my ego-centric way of thinking...that meant me.
So the search was on for a puzzle piece that "fit" better for my Mom.
And he's been the best thing thats ever happened...since me.
That is sarcasm, everyone.

4. places things????
I guess this all needs more thought. and time.
and thought.

Sorry its been so long since I posted. Not much going on with us. Hubby sent out 13 resumes. We're visiting a promising church next weekend. Next week is Hubby's last week of classes, and things are starting to wrap up. More tomorrow!

5 churches

in 5 days.
Hubby has buckled down and has been "applying" to one church a day this week.
Wow.
Of course its mostly email stuff, but still, its amazing.
And one wrote back for additional info.

Its a full weekend for us, even though its supposed to pour down rain starting tonight through Monday. Need to get out and PLAY while the sun is still shining! The local National Guard Armory is having a pancake breakfast tomorrow but I can't help but think they may be involved in a flood along the river tomorrow morning. Probably we should be making pancakes for them.

We're coming into the last few weeks of school and papers are due also. Every waking hour counts!

Pastors Wife stuff

Two things:

The woman who killed her pastor husband is on trial this week.
and
Theres an article in Time magazine
with horror stories and resources for Pastors' wives including a club!
They have a conference and mentors.
Why have I not heard about this group before?
Its about a month from graduation...and I'm looking for support, I guess.

Most of the time I'm excited about the next phase of the journey.
But these two things "hit" today...so I'm thinking.
I'm lucky I have this place.
and I have friends and family

and God has a plan.

He is risen

He is risen indeed!
What a wonderful day!

Buck teeth and Long Ears

I'm the Easter bunny.
No, its true!
This year I did the basket. This year he understands.
The Easter Bunny will come tonight
and the basket that has sat near his place at the table all week will have jelly beans and things in it.
He's hoping for trains. But he's always hoping for trains.
So beans, lollipops, bubbles, the required chocolate bunny, and a train.
This Easter Bunny is a pushover.

The continuing story

Interviews are starting to interfere with my work schedule. My boss is sympathetic and knows our situation, but the weekend swapping has really just begun.

Interview weekend at the end of the month and I'm going and I'm kinda excited about this one.

Max: a portrait

Max is yellow (gold says the vet),
about 50 lbs, 6 years old and a one person dog
(that person is me, but he shyly loves everyone)

He's the sweetest dog.

My neighbors don't know this because

he looks ferocious whenever we see another dog,

jumping, barking and pulling. All bark, no bite.

But in our home,

he is relaxed and calm,

sleeping in the chair or on the floor,

recently I've found him stretched out on our bed, my side.

He looked guilty for a moment, not knowing what I would say,

but I could hear him stretch out again as I left the room.

He enjoys paper products and cardboard tubes,

chewing on the new fresh grass popping up everywhere,

and lounging.

Our dogs do not signal their need to "go out"
with barking or scratching at the door.

Simba chases his tail

and Max puts his paw on my knee or shoulder and stares deep into my eyes.

So, today I took him to the vet for annual shots

and claw trimming.

Its raining out, he doesn't like rain.

A car ride too, but he doesn't like to go in the car.

There were other dogs in the waiting room,

he noticed them but continued to shiver and hide behind me.

No barking, jumping or pulling.

He was cautious with the vet-tech and slowly took a treat from him.

He went both tense and limp on the exam table.

Claws trying to grab, but legs unable to hold him up.

They dragged him into the back to have his pedicure.

Apparently he was a handful.

But happy to leave.

Got the full sniff-over from Simba when we arrived home.
Intact.

And he's all curled up in the green chair now,

listening to jazz.

Foggy Morning breakdown

On our walk to daycare...
Flash: What is wrong with the sky?
Me: Its foggy today
Flash: What's foggy?
Me: The clouds are low to the ground today
Flash: Why? Why are they low?
Me: Ummm I'm not sure, why do you think they're low?
Flash: So they could see it raining!

Just a call-process chuckle...

Hubby hasn't applied many places, because of waiting for ords,
but he did send a resume
to a church that sounded very promising two weeks ago.
By email, they wrote back a short response.

Then on Saturday we got an envelope in the mail,
with 4 bulletins inside. No note.
Hubby will call them today
to find out what it all meant
but when we opened it we just laughed!
A neighbor said, "Did you check to make sure one of them didn't say you were preaching!?"
No, they were older bulletins.

Friday5 on Monday

1. Will this Sunday be Palms only, Passion only, or hyphenated?
Both, and April Fools too!
Hubby got me good.
I was in the shower and he said
something about it getting really late
and could I hurry it up, its 9:20
(Church school starts at 9:45, I'm teaching, I'm always late).
I totally bought it and started to rush.
That's the only joke we did. We are usually a big April Fools' family.

2. Maundy Thursday Footwashing?
No. Never done that.

3. Share a particularly meaningful Good Friday worship experience.
Don't really have one. Good Friday is when we do the eggs.

4. Easter Sunrise Services--choose one:
a) "Resurrection tradition par excellence!"
b) "Eh. As long as it's sunrise with coffee, I can live with it."
c) "[Yawn] Can't Jesus stay in the tomb just five more minutes, Mom?!?"
No. Never done it.
Easter Bunny stuff, breakfast, then church, when I was a kid.
Hubby's folks' church has sunrise service at the top of the mountain...
(mountaintop experience?), 'sposed to be beautiful.

5. Complete this sentence: It just isn't Easter without...
Um,,,, I'm not supposed to say jelly beans here, right?
Colored eggs? Chocolate bunnies?
OK, on a more Christian note...
I love that we have something special to say and respond.
Everyone will say" He is Risen"
and you get to say "He is Risen indeed!" back.
I really like that.
Other Christian holidays should have that...
like Christmas, of course,
but also Ash Wednesday, and Pentecost!
And something somber for Good Friday. Just an idea.
